Nature and composting lessons with Inoveco

Compost-with-INOVECO

The Inoveco team visited a cozy school in Bucharest to tell the little children about composting. There they were greeted with warm smiles and genuine curiosity from the children. The atmosphere quickly transformed into a space of learning and discovery, dedicated to protecting the environment.

Why is composting important?

Cristina, Alina, Alexandru and Florin explained to the children that each of us produces waste every day and that proper waste management is essential. Especially during the festive season, the amount of waste increases significantly, but by selective collection and composting we can protect nature.

How does a smart composter work?

To make things more interesting, children were introduced to a clever home composting machine. It turns food scraps such as fruit, vegetables or eggshells into nutrient-rich compost that can be used to feed plants in the garden or apartment.

Composting steps:

  1. Drying food scraps

  2. Grinding them

  3. Compost decomposition and collection

The children were fascinated to discover that the process is quick, quiet and completely free of unpleasant odors, making it ideal for any household.

To reinforce the information, each child received a leaflet with details about composting and recycling. At the end, they were encouraged to share what they had learned with their family and friends, becoming little ambassadors for the environment.

Mister Bob - the school composter

During our visit, the children took part in a raffle to choose a name, and the winner was 'Mister Bob'. He is used weekly by a different class, who are in charge of "feeding" him as part of an educational project to empower children to protect nature.

Why is composting essential for the environment?

According to statistics on deșemissions, Romania generated on average 302 kg of waste inșmunicipal waste per inhabitant in 2022, compared to the European averageă of 503 kg/inhabitant.

Of the 302 kg of municipal waste produced annually per inhabitant, about 50% is organic waste. By using a smart composter, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste produced annually and benefit from the following advantages:

  • Low collection costs șand storage of deșwaste.
  • Reduceduse ofsanitationvehicles, which contributes to reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
  • Produce a natural fertilizer that supports healthy plant growth.
  • Reduce theuse ofchemicalfertilizers, contributing to a healthier environment.

Environmental education through direct experience

This type of initiative promotes sustainability and helps protect the environment. By using a smart composting machine, we can reduce organic waste by at least 50% directly at home, depending on the county.

If you would like to bring an educational project about composting and environmental protection to your community, the Inoveco team is at your disposal! We want to inspire as many children and adults as possible to adopt sustainable habits and contribute together to a greener future.
