Iridex Group Plastic, leading supplier in the field of intelligent solutions for various fields, such as construction, sanitation, agriculture s.a.si GEOBRUGG AG, world leader in the field of protection against natural hazards, organizes, with the support of the Hydrotechnical Faculty of the Technical University of Construction in Bucharest and the Romanian Society of Geotechnical and Foundations, the seminar "Massive Roca and Torenti", focused on protection and monitoring.
Climate change is probably the biggest challenge facing humanity throughout its existence, which has also led to an intensification of extreme phenomena, which have already repeatedly demonstrated their destructive potential. Rapid displacements of air masses, heavy rainfall falls in short periods of time or sudden and successive changes in atmospheric pressure are just some of the elements that have already begun to enter the routine. In this context, floods are increasingly present in the landscape, and land displacements and rock detachments are not lacking either, especially against the background of excessive deforestation in some areas or the unholy relief conditions in others. Monitoring and application of measures to prevent such situations has therefore become critical, and GEOBRUGG AG is a world leader in the design and manufacture of protective solutions, in the form of specialized safety nets, made of high-wheel drive steel. These are the result of several years of research and collaborations with renowned universities and are available in Romania through Iridex Group Plastic. And to signal the importance of monitoring the risk of natural hazards and the ways in which their devastating effects can be prevented, Iridex Group Plastic and GEOBRUGG AG organize a profile seminar within the Faculty of Geotechnical.
"Massive Roca and Torenti" takes place today, November 14, starting at 08:30, during the "70 years of higher hydrotechnical education" demonstrations, in the "Radu Priscu" amphitheatre within the Hydrotechnical Faculty. The three main themes present on the agenda are rock falls, torrents and remote sensing monitoring, which are extended by addressing all elements of interest. Teachers, lecturers and specialists in the field thus share their knowledge about the evaluation of the stability of rock massifs, about rapid floods from the perspective of theoretical elements and mathematical modeling and about the implementation of remote sensing solutions in monitoring. The size, maintenance and digitization of protection systems are other topics in the event agenda, as well as multiple case studies, demonstrating the practical benefits of these solutions.
With over 65 years of experience in the field, GEOBRUGG AG was the first company to bring to the Romanian market the standard solutions, used internationally for protection against falls of rock blocks, landslides, avalanches and torrents. The numerous projects carried out in Romania with the help of these systems prove their effectiveness and performance, and a good example in this respect is the deployment of traffic in complete safety, without interruptions, for more than a decade, on the more than 20 areas that presented risks, identified and stabilized or protected with solutions GEOBRUGG AG in the Olt Valley (DN7). It is noted here that GEOBRUGG AG is the only manufacturer worldwide that has all systems certified according to 1:1 scale tests under conditions specific to the type of hazard. All these solutions and many others are found in the portfolio of Iridex Group Plastic and are thus available on the Romanian market.
