The project significantly reduces the amount of uncontrolled waste disposal, improves separate collection, increases recycling and contributes to a sanitary, safe and efficient system for the inhabitants of Calafat and the metropolitan area.
INOVECO SRL has realized the design and execution of the Calafat transfer and composting plant, a strategic project included in the Integrated Waste Management System in Dolj County. The purpose of the investment is to modernize the municipal waste collection, transfer and valorization infrastructure, by building on the same site two fully integrated facilities.
The Calafat transfer and composting station project is being developed on an area of 30.000 square meters, in a stable extravilana area, located 2,6 km west of the municipality. The works included the development of unloading and compacting platforms, the realization of shredding, aerobic composting, maturation and storage areas, the construction of administrative and technical buildings, as well as the installation of all utilities necessary for continuous operation in compliance with European standards. The integrated system allows the efficient management of the biodegradable fraction and municipal waste collected, contributing to the reduction of the quantities sent to landfill and to the increase of the recycling rate in the county.
