The impact of the project on the community is significant, as the closure of the six non-compliant landfills has eliminated major risks of soil, air and groundwater contamination, reduced odours and urban discomfort, improved public health and quality of life, stabilized the affected areas and returned them to the natural circuit, contributing to the protection of biodiversity and to the increase of the environmental value of the entire region.
INOVECO SRL realized complex works for the closure of non-compliant waste landfills in Timis County, covering six major sites: Parta-Sag, Jimbolia, Buzias, Sannicolau Mare, Lugoj and Faget. The project aimed at making the old landfills safe, rehabilitating the affected land and bringing them up to national and European environmental standards.
The works included the shaping and compaction of the existing waste, the settlement of the closure systems, waterproofing, drainage, perimeter ditches, collection basins and infrastructure for post-closure monitoring. Through these interventions, degraded land was returned to the natural circuit and the risks of soil, air and groundwater pollution were eliminated.
