Buzau Voluntary Waste Center - project stage

Significant progress at the Buzau voluntary waste center

The works for the realization of this Buzau voluntary waste center are progressing at a steady pace. The Inoveco team is present on site, contributing with its expertise to the development of the environmental infrastructure on a 51.268 square meters site.

What is a volunteer center?

A voluntary drop-off center is a modern space where citizens can hand in free of charge waste that cannot be collected by regular sanitation services. These include:

  • recyclable and biodegradable waste

  • bulky waste, textiles, furniture, wood

  • used tires, electrical and electronic equipment

  • batteries, oils and hazardous waste

  • garden waste, animal corpses

  • construction and demolition waste

By collecting them at CAV Buzau, it supports recycling, reuse and pollution reduction, contributing to a modern and sustainable waste management system.

The state of works at the Buzau voluntary waste center

The project team has finalized and is moving forward in several directions:

  • Administrative area: foundations for the administrative building, laboratory and workshop are finalized; reinforcement and plumbing are in place; floor slab and reinforcement of columns are under construction.

  • Composting area: the de-covering and pouring of the leveling concrete have been completed; the foundations and the foundations for the sorting and composting bins are finished.

  • Related works: fencing is 95% completed, drinking water network 90%, sanitation 70%. The roads and platforms are almost completely dug and the filling works are starting.

Thus, the Buzau voluntary waste center is taking shape with each stage.

Impact of the CAV Buzau project

Through this project:

  • modernizing the waste management system at county level

  • reduce costs generated by improper storage

  • economic opportunities are created by recovering recyclable materials

  • support the European circular economy objectives

After the completion of the works, the inhabitants of Buzau county will be able to deliver waste free of charge in the Buzau voluntary waste drop-off center, access being allowed on the basis of ID card. Through Inoveco's involvement, the Buzau VRC is becoming a model of best practice in waste management and in promoting the circular economy. The PNRR funding confirms the importance of the project for the community and for Romania's transition to a modern collection and recycling system.
