Iridex Group Plastic announces reception of the sorting station in Vadeni – Braila

Iridex Group Plastic, together with its associate Argif Project, announced the reception at the end of the works for the waste sorting plant and the mechanical-biological treatment plant (MBT) in Vadeni, Braila. The event took place today, within the project "Integrated Waste Management System in Braila County", with the participation of the project beneficiary – Braila County Council.

"It is a work long awaited by the County Council for which we thank Iridex Group Plastic for doing its best to fit the schedule so that the work is delivered on time. The treatment and sorting plant in Vadeni represents the most important stage in the implementation of this project on European funds, to release the documentation and specifications for the award of the sole operator for Braila County and to start the operation. This will mean for our county the reduction of the amount of waste taken to the landfill and the awareness of all citizens that we must collect selectively, and the whole project is integrated and functional according to the parameters,"said Mr. Francisk Iulian Chiriac, President of the Braila County Council.

The sorting plant has a capacity of 30000 tonnes per year and the mechanical-biological treatment plant has a capacity of 26000 tonnes per year, estimated to be necessary for medium- to long-term processing. The total area of the location of the sorting station and the MBT station is 25,537 square meters. The project received European funding with an investment of 25,581,736 lei from European funds through the Operational Large Infrastructure Programme.

"Iridex Group Plastic has been continuously involved in environmental protection projects implementing intelligent solutions in its projects. In this case it is the automation of the waste sorting and automated treatment process, the electronic control being carried out from the central control panel and the whole process is monitored by the electronic control and control installation. The whole work envisaged that the installation would comply with the emission reduction requirements and the conditions stipulated in the legislation on environmental protection, under the conditions of obtaining maximum efficiency,"said Mr. Valentin Feodorov, legal representative of Iridex Group Plastic.

The location of the sorting station and MBT Vadeni station is at a distance of 1.4 km from the residential area of Silistea commune, 7.5 km from Braila municipality and at a distance of 300 meters from the Muchea municipal waste dump. Access is via DN 23 Braila – Muchea, the access road belonging to Silistea commune, on its border with Vadeni commune.

The installations will ensure the recycling of a maximum amount of recyclable materials that can be reused in other areas, as well as the separation and minimization of the amount of waste expected to be stored in the ecological warehouse. Depending on individual requirements, these objectives can be achieved by breaking down organic matter in the biological treatment sector or by bio-drying for stabilizing and drying waste, which can be used in agriculture or for other purposes. At the same time, it was intended that the environmental impact by the operation of the plant does not exceed the levels established as acceptable by the regulations applicable in Romania and the European Union, and the operating costs remain as low as possible.

The work involves one of the largest composting and bio-drying plants in our country, using GORE® Cover technology. Recognized in the industry as one of the most reliable solutions for treating all types of organic waste, GORE® Cover technology ensures an efficient biological decomposition process for the reintroduction of this type of waste into the Circular Economy. The GORE® Cover system is an efficient solution for the treatment of crop waste from agricultural production, manure, green waste, but also in the case of food waste or other organic waste separated from the source, biosolids (sludges), as well as for solid municipal waste.

Among the main objectives of the work are the improvement of the selective collection system in the urban area and its expansion in the rural area of Braila county, the improvement and expansion of existing collection and transport equipment, the optimization of logistics by streamlining waste management services and the controlled storage of waste within the warehouses complying with the rules in force at European level.
