The non-conforming class "b" landfill in Brasov has currently been closed since 1997 and it is necessary to close it in accordance with national and EU legislation. The closure of this landfill will be followed by activities that will minimize the negative impact on the environment in the area of Brasov.
The main landfill occupies an area of approx. 86.300 square meters, located in the northern part, on the boundary with the operating road that separates the landfill from the non-hazardous industrial landfill. The volume of waste on the site is approx. 1,409,374 cubic meters. The Timis Triaj municipal waste landfill is in the maturation phase, completely inertized and no longer produces any effects on the quality of the environment and the health of the population.
LOCATION DETAILS
The Timis-Triaj landfill for household waste is located in the NE part of Brasov municipality in an industrial area, on the right bank of the Timisul Sec embankment, SOUTH of the non-hazardous waste landfill, from which it is delimited by an access road.
The total area occupied by the landfill for household waste Timis - Triaj is 107.875 square meters, according to CF 151504 and CF 173129. The land belongs to the public domain of the Municipality of Brasov. The enclosed area, which includes: closed household waste landfill, ditches, roads, rainwater retention basin, gabions, enclosure, etc. is 78.360 square meters.
In terms of the economic regime, the current use of the land is arable and courtyards - buildings, and the destination established by the PUG Brasov is: sub-area of forests and plantations for sanitary protection, sub-area of green spaces for the protection of watercourses, sub-area of green spaces, protection corridors of major technical infrastructure for sanitary protection.
According to the zoning plan, the neighborhoods are as follows:
- to the south - private land;
- to the north - the landfill for non-hazardous industrial waste. It is separated from the landfill for household waste by a paved road that connects the industrial platform to the dwellings located approx. 1 km east. The road crosses the dry Timisul Sec embankment via a concrete bridge, which was destroyed when the level of the Timisul Sec embankment rose.
- to the west - the Timișul Sec (right bank)
- to the east - agricultural land. The access to the site is from Harmanului Street (DN 11 Brasov - Bacau) and further on both Narciselor Street and Zaharia Stancu Street, then on a partially paved farm road.
OBJECTIVES INVESTMENT WORKS IN BRASOV
The project involves complex enclosure works, ensuring long-term ecological safety and integration into the landscape.
Main activities include:
- Warehouse body modeling (earthworks and vertical systematizations: excavations, backfilling);
- Execution of a system of covering the waste with a layer of earth to protect against dust formation and windblown light waste on the surface of the embankments;
- Collecting rainwater from the slope surfaces through swales located at the bottom of the berm and inspection roads, discharging it into the newly constructed stormwater catch basin. Excess stormwater from rainfall will be discharged into the Dry Timisul Parrment;
- Protection works consisting of: an anti-erosion mattress placed on the surface of the systematized warehouse, covering with a layer of topsoil for grassing, gabion retaining walls, enclosure, etc.
- Roading: warehouse access, perimeter inspection and technological access, berms/capac
- Landscaping of green spaces by grassing and planting shrubs;
- Facilities for monitoring:
o Groundwater monitoring system;
o Facilities for monitoring of heave and deformation of the repository body
