Rehabilitation of the irrigation system

Name of the paper: Execution of works for the investment objectives under the administration of ANIF, within the National Program for rehabilitation of the Main irrigation infrastructure in Romania – stage I-3 lots – 2 – execution: LOT 3- Rehabilitation of the irrigation arrangement in Babadag, Tulcea County

PROJECT DETAILS

  • The Babadag irrigation arrangement is under the administration of the National Agency for Land Improvements, Dobrogea Territorial Branch of Land Improvements, Tulcea Administration Unit.
  • The water supply source of the development is Babadag Lake through the three base stations SP1 Babadag, SP2 Babadag and SP3 Babadag.
  • The arrangement of Babadag irrigation in a gross area of 25,161 ha is served by the base stations SP1 Babadag, SP2, Babadag, SP3 Babadag.
  • Sp1 Babadag station serves a total area of 21,614 ha and is located at the downstream end of the CA0 channel, at a distance of 4,168 m from the stavilar bridge on the Babadag – Zebil road.

INVESTMENT OBJECTIVES FOR IRRIGATION WORKS AT BABADAG

By this investment, it aims at the rehabilitation of a part of the pumping capacity of two pumping stations for irrigation – SP1 and SRP1, as well as the restoration of the pipeline and canal systems for the taking over and transport of the water from Lake Babadag (CA0, CA1, CA4), the rehabilitation of the constructions of the two stations: SP1 and SRP1, the execution of new roofs framing type. 

REHABILITATION WORKS FOR THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN BABADAG

CA0 CHANNEL

  • The total length is 4.120 m;

  • Dredging the channel along its entire length and reshaping it;

  • Restoration of the protection wave of the CA0 channel;

  • Closing the breach on the left bank, existing at km 3+396;

  • Rehabilitation of the construction for fish grills.

CHANNEL CA1

  • The total length is 4.035 m;

  • Recalibration of the channel section by cleaning the vegetation grown on the slopes and on the canal eraser and removing the deposits to the existing tiles;

  • Filling the gaps in the existing tiles with sand and correcting with repair mortar the sharp edges of the existing pears;

  • Waterproofing of the channel using geotextile 235 g/sqm + GEOMEMBRANE from PEID 0.75 mm + concrete slabs C25/30, poured on the spot;

  • Grassing the slopes above the new concrete pear.

CHANNEL CA4 – Bief 1 – km 0+000 – km 5+210 and bief 2 (area with existing tiles) km 5+210 – km 8+118  

  • Recalibration of the channel section by cleaning the vegetation grown on the slopes and on the canal eraser and removing the deposits to the existing tiles;

  • Filling the gaps in the existing tiles with sand and correcting with repair mortar the sharp edges of the existing pears;

  • Waterproofing of the channel using geotextile 235 g/sqm + GEOMEMBRANE from PEID 0.75mm + concrete slabs C25/30, poured on the spot;

  • Concrete repair;

  • Grassing the slopes above the new concrete pear.

CHANNEL CA4 – Bief 2 – km 8+118 – 12+165 (Currently this section of channel is executed from the ground)

  • Recalibration of the channel section by cleaning the vegetation grown on the slope and on the canal eraser and removing the deposits up to the project quota;

  • After the complete removal of the vegetal residues and deposits, in the areas where it will be necessary to complete the embankments in order to reach the laying quota of the new pears, provided in the project, loessoid clay soil from the loan pit will be used and in no case will the vegetal soil and no material removed from the deposit areas of the canals be used;

  • The earth eraser of the channel will be mechanically compacted;

  • Waterproofing of the channel using geotextile 235 g/sqm + GEOMEMBRANE from PEID 0.75 mm + concrete slabs C25/30, poured on the spot;

  • Near the hydrotechnical constructions, the geotextile and geomembrane will be anchored;

  • Remediation of the right slope collapse at km 9+755 by filling with local material, from loan pits, without vegetal soil, twinning steps and its compaction, leveling and finishing of the slope;

  • Grassing the slope above the new concrete pear.
