The acceptance inspection upon completion of the project “Integrated Center for Separate Waste Collection via Voluntary Drop-Off in the Municipality of Buzău – Phase I” took place on July 30, 2026.
Together with Urban Scope SRL, as part of the consortium led by Inoveco SRL, we have completed the design, construction, and outfitting of the Integrated Center for Separate Waste Collection through Voluntary Drop-off (CAV) in the Municipality of Buzău, an investment carried out for the Municipality of Buzău and funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The contract included the design, construction, and full equipping of the center, built on a 51,268-square-meter site and organized for the separate collection and efficient management of multiple waste streams.
A voluntary drop-off center is a facility designed for the separate collection of waste that cannot be picked up through the regular waste collection system. Residents can drop off the following items free of charge, on their own initiative: bulky waste, recyclable waste, textiles, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, household hazardous waste, used tires, wood waste, and green waste.
Unlike a landfill or a transfer station, a CAV is the first point in the waste management chain, where waste is collected separately and sent for recycling, composting, or reuse. At the center in Buzău, items that can be repaired will be returned to use through the workshop and showroom dedicated to reuse.

What does the Volunteer Center in Buzău offer?
- administrative building, laboratory, and reception area;
- workshop and showroom for upcycling items;
- platforms dedicated to the separate collection of different waste streams;
- technical area for special waste, including a refrigerated container and a container for hazardous waste;
- automatic sorting line for mixed recyclable waste;
- a two-cell composting plant for green waste, equipped with a semipermeable membrane composting system, a shredder, and a mobile screen;
- weighing system, full range of utilities, outdoor lighting, and monitoring systems;
- a stormwater retention basin, used to supply water to and ensure the self-sufficiency of the irrigation system for the green spaces within the center;
- roadways, access roads and perimeter roads, parking lots, and landscaping.
How will the center operate?
Once the facility is operational, residents will be able to drive their own vehicles onto the premises to drop off their separately collected waste. They will be directed by the facility’s staff to the containers designated for each category of waste, which are appropriately labeled.
In the spirit of the circular economy, the center will also host educational activities for children. Projects and programs will be organized in the administrative spaces to teach participants about the importance of separate collection, reuse, recycling, and composting, as well as about adopting environmentally responsible behavior.
The final inspection upon completion of the work marks the end of the construction phase and the handover of the project to the client.
According to information provided by the Buzău City Hall, CAV Buzău could become operational by the end of 2026, once the administrative and operational steps required for its commissioning have been completed.
The completion of this project marks the delivery of a major investment in the development of the waste management infrastructure in the Municipality of Buzău. Through the design, construction, and full equipping of the center, we are contributing to the development of modern separate collection systems and supporting the goals of the circular economy and environmental protection.
